One Down...Three Nine Weeks to Go!

Can you believe the first quarter of Kindergarten ended last Friday?  This school year is moving  too quickly...I need it to slow down.

Since Monday is a holiday, Nancy's Ice will be sold on Tuesday of this week for $1.00.    If you are purchasing  snack for this short week, please send $2.00 for each item for a total of $4.00.

You may send the library book back to school any day this week.   I will allow the children to visit the library to get a new library book since Monday was a day off.

Did you find the purple handout about our Miss Spider Tea Party Crafternoon on Friday, October 25?  Contact the room parents to see how to assist our celebration of friendship.

This is a review week for reading and math.  Look for a new reading information sheet later in the week for the second nine weeks.

Our poem last week was celebrating the arrival of fall.  We made our own version of falling leaves.  No scissors or crayons were allowed.  Only our fingers created the imagery of  leaves falling one by one (tearing paper is an excellent way to strengthen fine motor skills.)  The poem for next week is a tongue twister.  Tongue twisters are great for beginning readers as sounds are manipulated. Heads up:  tongue twisters are very addictive to the personality of a Kindergartener.  Be prepared to hear it many, many times.

Report cards will be issued on Thursday at 3:10 pm.  I am unable to release report cards before 3:10.

Last week our instruction for Writer's Workshop was having stamina as a writer.  That means that we work the entire time of  Writer's Workshop.  We are writing or drawing the entire time as we write our story.   Several of the students wanted to show off their writing muscles.  We are a smart bunch.

Fall Festival is Thursday night at the ball fields across the street from the school.  The festival opens at 4:30.   Don't worry about dinner, food will be available at the festival.  I look forward to seeing your family at the festival.  It is one of the favorite nights of the school year for my family.

Room 114 had fun dressing out of uniforms twice last week.  Our class is full of spirit.  Contact me with any questions or concerns.
